Hey Guys,

Sorry it's been a while since I have posted. I was in London for the weekend with Trinity Orchestra (which was amazing) and I suppose I've just finished recovering.

We played a gig of our Arcade Fire and Pink Floyd sets in a church in Shoreditch and had a great turn out. Also had a three amazing days, and a few great nights out to boot.

Anyway,

My friend Caitriona and I were doing a lot of talking about eyebrows over the weekend, and that's what has inspired me to do an entire blog post dedicated to

EYEBROWS

In my opinion, eyebrows are such an important element in a girl's appearance: they frame your face, and if they are well cared for, they have the ability to make you look both well-groomed and well-kept.

I have never gone to a salon to get my eyebrows shaped, and have always done them myself- mostly because I am afraid to let anyone else at them. It has taken me so long to achieve my desired look, and has required so much trial and error (unfortunately). Filling in my eyebrows is a central part of my everyday makeup routine; I first use the Essence Eyebrow Designer Pencil and secondly a black Clarins eyeshadow with a small eyeshadow brush. At the weekend, my friend Caitriona gave me a stencil from her eyebrow kit and I absolutely love it because it makes achieving the perfect shape so easy.

Eyebrows really are one of the first things I notice about a person (second to their teeth!) so for me, they are instrumental to my feeling presentable. Here are a few pictures of my eyebrow inspirations:

Day-to-Day HAIRCARE ROUTINE

Recently, I've been kind of into trying out new beauty products. I'm definitely not someone who buys volumes of new products: I tend to buy things that I need, but I have really been getting into taking good care of my hair over the past few months. If you've been reading my blog for a while, you will probably remember when my hair was longer, ie. about three inches past my shoulders. I had ombréd it during the summer, and the dye combined with constant heat treatment and lack of TLC had frazzled my hair. Last September, I decided to take the plunge and cut all the damaged ends off my hair. I never looked back, and I love my hair shorter. While I would eventually like longer, healthy hair, I was so happy that I decided to cut it off as I am finally free of nasty split ends and crispy tips.

Here's a quick overview of all my hair-related products, everything I use is available from Boots (except the Lush shampoo bar, obviously) and all of these products are relatively inexpensive.

I am pretty low maintenance when it comes to beauty products, and I don't use shed-loads of different products on a daily basis. I do wash my hair daily, though this is a habit I really want to try and break soon.

For shampoo, I usually use Aussie's "Mega" Shampoo. I find that this is a really good daily shampoo and it doesn't cause my hair to become dull due to residue. It also has a nice, fresh scent. Just recently, however, I purchased one of Lush's shampoo bars in "Ultimate Shine". Though I've only used it twice so far, I only have good things to say about it- it really did leave my hair squeaky clean and shiny. The shampoo bars are supposed to last for around 80 washes too, which make them both cost effective (at around €7 each) and also environmentally friendly. I was surprised at what a good lather you can get from the bar! I also got a cute little tin to hold it in, so I'm really happy with that.

For conditioner, I also primarily use Aussie's "Mega" Instant conditioner (the bottle basically looks the same as the shampoo one!). It's a really light conditioner, and I do most of my conditioning work out of the shower. Another conditioning product I really like is Aussie's Three Minute Miracle which is a reconstructing deep conditioner. Just last night, I had a go at making my own hair mask. I mixed together 1 egg, some honey, a little milk and some olive oil, and I can really feel the effects this morning! I've used eggs before, because they really do strengthen your hair and add shine. Just scramble one in a mug, bring it in the shower with you and massage it into your hair. As a deep conditioner, I sometimes use a L'Oreal leave-in conditioner: Anti-Breakage Repairing Concentrate. I do like this product, but I hate the way that it makes my hands feel sticky when I am blowdrying my hair.

Before I got my hair cut, I was always way too lazy to invest in and use heat protection products. I quickly decided that this had to change, however, and went straight to Boots to pick one out. The only one I had any experience with, was the one that came with my first GHD a about six years ago. I really hated this spray, as it was really greasy and sucked all the volume out of my hair. This time, I went for a Trevor Sorbie Beautifully Straightened Heat Defence Blow Dry spray, and I'm really happy with it. It doesn't have an overpowering smell, and doesn't change the way my hair looks after I've dried and styled it. I now use this every single day and have really noticed a difference in how my hair has dealt with constant heat and also the winter weather- I haven't gotten a haircut since last September, but I still have barely and damaged ends.

Last but not least, I could not live without L'Oreal Elnett hairspray. I have been using this for years (even though I know everyone associates it with elderly women, and my boyfriend has told me that I smell like his granny!) I really can't find a hairspray to beat it, and I love the scent and the texture of it in my hair. My hair is quite silky and so I do find it hard to keep a wave in it, but this definitely helps.

As far as appliances I use to style my hair, it's a case of a hairdryer and a GHD. I have a pretty terrible hairdryer, it's a Babyliss Turbo Shine which cost me around €20 in Boots last year: I bought it when I was moving away to college. My GHD is a nice one though, I got it for Christmas last year and it's the "Red Lust" limited edition one. I usually use the GHD to make my hair wavy, and to correct the kinks around my face. I rarely wear my hair straight as I don't really like how it lies. The GHD is really good for doing curls as well as straightening, I would definitely recommend it.

So, that's my entire haircare routine. I don't dye my hair, so I guess that means that it requires less maintenance. I am thinking of getting balayage, but I'm not sure yet. What are your haircare tips? What do you do to keep your hair in great condition?

PRODUCT REVIEW: "the POREfessional" by Benefit

First off, I must say that the POREfessional by Benefit is unlike any product I have ever used. When I read the description on the box ("apply this silky, lightweight formula for translucent pore coverage and smoother-than-smooth skin") I was a little skeptical. Maybe this is because I have a suspicious mind, or maybe it's because I have tried a couple of primer-like products and have never stuck to them. Also, how could one product be capable of priming and touching up?

To apply the POREfessional, I used my usual Garnier Pure A moisturiser all over my face. I then squeezed a little of the product on to the tip of my index finger. The 22ml tube is supposed to last for twelve months, so you really only need a small amount. I dispersed the product across both my index and middle fingers and then patted on to the areas where I think that my pores are the most visible (either sides of my nose, especially). The product is a peachy colour (as you can see below) but can be used on all skin tones.

Firstly, I was struck by how matte the product was. It took away all the shine from the areas, and I was really pleased with this. It was also unbelievably silky and my foundation glided on over it. When I got home from college that afternoon, I decided to test out it's "touch-up" ability. I squeezed out a little bit and patted it over my makeup- and it worked! I usually use a powder to reduce shine, but this ends up making my face more cakey and worse than when I began, so the POREfessional is kind of like using blotting paper.

All in all I was very satisfied with this product. The only thing I would recommend is moisturising first as the product is not moisturising and would probably draw attention to dry patches of skin.

A WEEK IN THE LIFE: February 6th-10th, 2012

I know I haven't been blogging to the same extent recently- the truth is, I've been incredibly busy! This week has been packed full of events, so I decided I'd do a quick post to fill you all in on what I've been up to.

Last Tuesday, I went to the Diet Coke and Benefit event in the (totally decked out) Dylan hotel, like so many of the other Irish Bloggers. I couldn't stay for long, unfortunately, because I was under time constraints, but even being there for half an hour was great. There was tons free food and pretty Diet Coke cans, along with demonstrations of three brand new makeup looks. So thanks to Thinkhouse for the invite!

Three new looks, and three new limited edition cans. Under the ring-pull of every can is a code, and simply text the code to the number on the can for your chance to win £99 worth of Benefit makeup!

As many of you know, I play the violin, and have done so for the last fifteen and a half years. Violin is quite a big part of my life, and I play with the Trinity Orchestra. Last Wednesday, I played with seven other members of orchestra in the Trinity Arts Festival. We played with Dublin band Cloud Castle Lake- who are such a great band. I've played with them twice before, and I just think their music is unlike the music of any other of the bands on the Dublin scene at the moment.

On Thursday morning, I went to the opening of the newest exhibition in Trinity's science gallery, to take some photos and look around. It was great that I got to go as 'press', because the exhibition was pretty quiet, and it gave Peter and I a good chance to explore and to talk to the people behind the operation. On arrival, along with some information, we were presented with a little tube of twelve-year-old bread dough (which later exploded and went everywhere!) and a little tub of edible maggots (gross). We did get to sample some unusual, innovative foods though- Le Whaf, which is basically a glass of steam that you suck up through a glass straw (my one tasted of berries), and this other project where you listen to three sounds, choose the one you like the best, and then get a little piece of jelly with the corresponding flavour. They also had things like glowing sushi, and some sort of cheese board with little wooden blocks explaining what was inside the glass. Interesting.

Ever since probably about third year of secondary school, I've loved French. It's been one of my favourite subjects for a while, however, I decided that I didn't love it quite enough to study it in college. However, on Thursday, I started French classes in Alliance Francaise on Kildare Street. I really hope the classes will help me to become fluent, or at least more competent with my French!

So that's what I have been up to this past week- pretty jam packed, but great all the same. I hope to get back into regular blogging patterns soon! Hope you all have a great weekend.

OUTFIT, FACE & DESSERT OF THE DAY: Dinner Date

Last night (Sunday) I went to Wagamama with my boyfriend to end the weekend. (I had ramen, as usual, and it was delish.)

I spent most of Sunday just relaxing on the couch, and so when I had to get ready, I wanted to throw on something really cozy to brave the Arctic temperatures which seem to have Dublin in a chokehold. Enter green jumper: so warm and fluffy, and though I can't remember exactly how much I paid for it, I got it a few weeks ago in Urban Outfitters at a fraction of its original price.

I'm really annoyed that you can see the bottom of my top under my skirt- this picture was taken before I straightened it out, and I only realised now!

FACE OF THE DAY (lol)

"Face of the day" seems like a strange title, because my face is the same every day. Anyway, this is just my day-to-day makeup look, and the one I wear to college- it seems to fit any occasion.

I began with a moisturiser (I use Garnier Pure A), then MAC studio fix foundation in NC15, and a Bobbi Brown pressed powder. For my eyes, I used Chanel's Les 4 Ombres eyeshadow quad, Maybelline's Liner Express liquid eyeliner pen and Maybelline's 'Cat Eyes' mascara. I absolutely love Maybelline mascara: I've tried tons of other, more expensive brands, but I always end up going back to it. On my lips, I'm wearing 'Blushing Nude' lipstick by Clinique, which is my favourite lipstick as it's only slightly darker than my natural lip colour. I just used a black Clarins eyeshadow to fill in my brows.

I've just waved my hair with my GHD hair straightener.

DESSERT OF THE DAY

I also baked these raspberry cheesecake brownies when I got home, and they are really nice, if I may say so myself!

WHITE nails

Hey guys,

Apologies for my inconsistency of late, I've been so busy and preoccupied, I really haven't had time to sit down and think of anything to write.

My post today is about my latest obsession: white nail varnish. I love the way white nail varnish looks. I'm not a big fan of the classic French manicure as a day-to-day nail colour, because I think it's predictable. Monotone white nails are so much more exciting and unexpected, and I love the way they look so white and clean. White nails also look great with some nail art, and are definitely a great colour for summer (which is around the corner, woo!)

My fingernails are quite square and small, which really annoys me as it doesn't leave much room for illustrating. I just used a Natural Collection nail tip whitener. (I realise that the polish around my cuticles is really messy D:)

DIY: Galaxy Shirt

So this is one DIY thing I've been wanting to make for ages, since I saw Christopher Kane's galaxy stuff *drools*

I also just really like the look of actual galaxies themselves, so naturally I want to wear one.

I've watched endless YouTube videos on how to do this, and hopefully have finally cracked it. The most helpful video I found was lookunderhere's 'D.I.Y. Galaxy Bandeau Top' video, and I loved the result of her DIY galaxy print.

For my galaxy top, I just cut up a black men's vest from Dunnes Stores, which cost me around €3 if I remember correctly (I bought it about four years ago as part of a Halloween costume!)

My mum bought me these fabric paints to encourage my creativity (heh :D), and I think together they cost around €10 in Cork Art Supplies.

HOW DO I DO THIS?

1. Lay out a bin bag or some old newspaper to protect the surface you've chosen to work on.

2. Lay the tshirt out on your flat surface, and ensure the seams are matching and that it is straight.

3. Pour a little bit of each paint out onto a flat surface (I used an old magazine).

-I totally forgot to take a picture of this, but you get the jist!

4. Using a kitchen sponge, dab the area you wish to turn into a galaxy with the white fabric paint.

5. Using the purple and blue fabric paints, continue to smudge all over the area with the sponge, until you've got this galaxy-looking print.

6. Next, using a piece of sponge cut into a thin strip, dip into the white paint and using your finger, pull it back and let go to splatter the paint across the pattern and give a starry effect.

AND HERE'S THE FINISHED PRODUCT!

I must say I'm quite happy/surprised with how it turned out!

I'll definitely be nebulising more things in the future!

NINETIES MANIA

I'm really feeling a nineties vibe the past few months or so, ever since I watched a few episodes of the original 90210. I'm a strong believer that fashion runs in cycles of about twenty years, and I always wish that my mother had saved some of her clothes for me, as I often hear "oh you want one of those? *fill in desired item* I had one of those when I was in college!

Being a nineties kid and everything, I can actually remember all the er.. fashion, unlike the '80s (obviously). Generally I think nineties fashion is pretty gross, but absolutely great at the same time, and right now I really want to get my velvet scrunchie on and go dancing to Boys II Men or something..

DIY: Studded Collar

Hi guys,

This is my first DIY post ever, and I'm not sure if it's something any of you will find helpful or not.

To be honest, this is an idea I pilfered from other fashion bloggers on YouTube and then I just made it my own, but I think it looks great so here goes.

You will need:

an old/cheap shirt in the colour you want your collar to be ( I would recommend a mens shirt, because you want the collar to be big and stiff). I used a womens shirt from Zara that I found in my wardrobe, but the collar happened to be particularly stiff and big, so it was perfect. Also, it was size XL (far too big), and had a weird fit which made me look like I was hiding something under there.
a pair of sharp scissors
a bag of clothing studs (I got mine on Ebay for about €3 including shipping. Make sure you order ones with a press-through back, and not the screw-on kind.)
a butter knife

Method:

The first thing to do it cut the collar off the shirt. (Though, obviously, you can do this to a collar attached to a shirt too!) Make sure you leave the top button(s) attached as you'll want to wear it as a kind of necklace, and need the wherewithal to tie it. Also, cut as close to the stitching as possible to ensure a clean, fray-free finish.

Next, you are going to stud your collar. Seeing as my studs were quite small, there were relatively easy to get through the material. The hardest part was folding in the little spikes, so this is where the butter knife came into play, and I used it in place of my finger.

That's all there is to it really, just arrange the studs as you please, and put on as many as appeals to you.

15 Fashion Questions TAG

Hey guys,

I don't think I've ever done a tag post before, and so when I saw one on a random blog that I was perusing, I decided it would be fun to do one. I don't know if this is a good idea or a bad one, so comment below and let me know if you liked this or not.

Before I begin, I just want to go ahead and tag all the Irish fashion bloggers, plus anyone that's reading this!

Question 1

What is your favourite style to wear?

I wouldn't say that I have one specific style that I like to stick to, as I tend to mix and match from different genres. However, I have been described as sort of preppy (by my boyfriend) due to my penchant for collared shirts and tendency to live in my quilted coat. That said, I also like studs, vintage-look things and prints. My favourite component to bring to an outfit is definitely texture-varying, and I love the look of chiffon with leather, nylon with cotton, fur with wool etc., etc.

Question 2

Who is your fashion role model?

Call me cliché, but I have to be truthful here and admit that Alexa Chung is my go-to style inspiration. I love how she mixes boxy, boyish items, with girly, childish pieces. Alexa isn't afraid to take fashion risks, and this comes through in her outfits. However, I was disappointed when I heard rumours that Alexa has a stylist- she sort of lost some of her sheen in my eyes after that. Another style icon for me is my mum. She always manages to look so elegant and ladylike, and I've totally adopted her love for collared things- she always jokes that the roots of my obsession lie way back in my childhood, when she always dressed me in Peter Pan collars.

Question 3

What do you always have on?

A watch. I absolutely hate when I forget to put one on! At the moment, I'm alternating between two watches- one is my (faux) gold Casio mens digital watch, and the second is a watch with a little gold face and black leather strap, which I inherited from my great aunt who passed away last year.

Question 4

What are your favourite jeans?

To be quite honest, I'm really not a big jean-wearer because I don't think they're that flattering on my figure. If I did have to choose a pair, it would be my high-waisted indigo BDG jeans from Urban Outfitters.

Question 5

What are your favourite sunglasses?

My RayBan wayfarers, hands down. I have the bigger, vintage-style ones, and I absolutely love them- they're timeless!

Question 6

What are your favourite shoes?

This is a tough one, but I think it's a tie between my Chelsea boots and my Minnetonka moccasins (I have two pairs). I guess I have a favourite for winter and a favourite for summer, and both are extremely comfortable.

Question 7

Who influenced you to write about fashion?

I was probably influenced to create my own blog, due to my love for clothes, but also my interest for reading other blogs and fashion magazines. So I suppose other bloggers and also fashion magazines were my inspiration, combined with the fact that I really enjoy writing and wanted to keep it up in some way other that through college essays.

Question 8

What is your favourite store?

My favourite store at the moment is probably American Apparel. I used to love Topshop, but I think it has really gone downhill lately. I never really joined the whole internet shopping movement, because I prefer trying things on before I purchase them.

Question 9

Who is your favourite fashion person on YouTube?

Clothes Encounters, no question! It used to be Jenn and Sarah, but now it's just Jenn running the channel. Their videos are frequent, and very high quality. I've never managed to find anyone as great.

Question 10

What is your favourite fabric?

This is a tough one, but chiffon probably takes the gold.

Question 11

Who is your favourite model?

I really admire Daisy Lowe, because she doesn't seem to have turned into a clone. Also, I think Freja Beha Erichsen is pretty adaptable, and also pretty. I guess the Victoria's Secret models are pretty great, but at the end of the day, I don't really have a favourite model.

Question 12

If you had €5,000 to spend on any one item, what would it be?

Some sort of handbag, or else shoes. Probably something Alexander McQueen. To be honest though, I'd much rather split the money up and buy a few nice things.

Question 13

Heels or flats?

Flats! Comfort all the way, I rarely wear heels as I'm nearly 5"8. I'm actually after a pair of these studded ones!

Question 14

What purse do you currently use?

My classic black Longchamps tote that Peter got me for Christmas. It's so roomy, versatile and practical- I love it!

Question 15

Is fashion in your blood or your jeans?

In my blood- my great grandmother won Cork's Best Dressed Lady in her time!

FashionObsession: LACE BICYCLE SHORTS

One trend I have been absolutely loving for the past few months or so (and one everyone seems to be blogging about) is lace bicycle shorts.

I fell in love with these when I saw them in American Apparel during the summer, and I knew I had to have some. I finally caved and bought a pair yesterday. As most of you probably know, I'm a big fan of American Apparel clothes, because though it is quite expensive, anything I've ever bought there has been worn over and over again, and the clothes have always lasted me really well.

I've seen these bicycle shorts everywhere- most notably, on the Chanel catwalks back in 2010 (I know I'm a bit late!), and on one of my top style icons, Alexa Chung.

OUTFIT POST: Back to Dublin.

As most you have probably noticed, I'm really enjoying outfit posting at the moment. Since I got my iPhone, I have found it much easier to snap pictures on the move.

Today's my first day back in Dublin, it's so strange that Christmas is all over- it absolutely flew.

Once again, thanks to everyone for reading my blog, and in material thanks, I will be having a small giveaway over the next couple of weeks (I'm not sure exactly when yet, but hopefully it will be sooner rather than later.)

And now, on to my winter makeup favourites..
For me, makeup always plays a more important role in winter time. This is mainly because I don't like wearing as much makeup in the summer, when the weather is hot.

I also love the festive palette that winter brings- deep wine hues, and gold shimmers.

I have a couple of winter favourites that I've been going back to again and again this year.

EYES

Firstly, is a MAC eyeshadow in 'Honey Lust'. This gorgeous gold eyeshadow is perfect for the Christmas party season and it's kind of subtly glittery, without looking like a five year old has smeared glitter on your eyes.

Secondly, is a MAC eyeshadow in 'Shadowy Lady' which is a deep plum colour and perfect for a less harsh smokey eye. In contrast to Honey Lust, this is completely matte.

LIPS

I love lipstick. Especially wintery ones, so I have a few. My favourite is actually one I just bought a few days ago, from MAC. "Hang-Up" is a cremesheen lipstick, and it glides on so easily. I also find it quite moisturising, and it's a very buildable colour, which suits me perfectly as it can be worn any shade from a dark cranberry, to a deep wine colour.

One lip product I simply cannot live without, no matter what the season, it MAC lip conditioner. I'm on my second pot of this since last year, so at around €15, it is quite reasonably priced. This really keeps my lips from chapping, and also makes a great base for lipstick.

FACE

I never wear a lot of bronzer, but I do like to wear a little bit as I feel that it warms up my complexion and makes me look a little bit healthier when my face is a deathly white.

My absolute favourite bronzer came in the Giorgio Armani Ochra Mediterranean palette.

Obviously I wear bronzer to compliment my foundation and powder, and I only brush a little bit just under my cheek bones. Also, I never wear blush, I use bronzer in lieu of it.
I've had this product for a while, and it is extremely well used, as you can see from the picture below.

NAILS

This winter, I've had two nail favourites.

First, is a very deep purple, called Deliciously Dark by Rimmel. I love the colour of this polish, however, it is not very good quality and lasts a maximum of four days before the area around the cuticles begins to chip really badly. Also, I bought this product before I discovered that Rimmel test on animals, so I would be very slow to buy one of their products again.

My other favourite winter nail favourite is Barry M's Instant Nail Effects in Gold Foil. Though this polish is not as durable as the other Barry M polishes, it does look fantastic on the nails and can brighten up and outfit. It really is metallic, and the swatch I did looks like car paint!

I cannot believe how close it is to Christmas, I really can't. Probably because I'm still bogged down in college assignments, despite the fact that I'm meant to be having some time off.

It's been cold here in Dublin, but I'm just so thankful that we haven't had any ice.

I'm going home to Cork today for the holidays, so I dressed in my bulkiest sweater as that meant I wouldn't have to pack it in my (already bulging) suitcase.

Also, I'll stay toasty on the way to the train. I'm dreading dragging all my stuff home, but it has to be done!

5 BEAUTY PRODUCTS I REGRET BUYING

1. Umberto Giannini Glam Hair

"Grunge Glamour Tousled Salt Spray"

When I got my hair cut short, I rushed out to Boots and bought three or four products in an attempt to make my naturally silky hair hold a wave.

I wanted that tousled, Alexa Chung look, and so I bought a spray which claimed to give tousled hair.

I found this spray a bit greasy, and it also had a strange, musty smell, while I like my hair products to smell fresh.

2. Maybelline

"Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Liner"

I got this eyeliner on a whim in Boots one day because I thought it looked like I would be good.

It was fine at first, in fact I was quite impressed, but after a few weeks, it dried out and the brush became really stiff, leaving it impossible to achieve a flawless line.

3. Benefit

"Boi-ing Industrial Strength Concealer" in shade 02

The main reason I don't like this concealer, to be quite honest, is due to the fact that the girl at the Benefit counter in Brown Thomas convinced me to buy it in a shade which is way too dark for my pale skin. I should never have bought shade 2, when I am clearly extremely pale.

I also think this is far too thick, and draws attention to spots and under-eye circles rather than disguising them.

4. MAC

'Please Me' matte lipstick

Usually, I absolutely love MAC lipsticks, no matter what kind. This one, however, is different. Though I really like the rose pink colour, this lipstick really does not work with my lips. No matter how exfoliated or moisturised my lips are, this lipstick is unimaginably hard to apply, and always looks like my lips are dry and bitty!

5. Lancome Juicy Tube

P.U.R.E. Range

When I was younger, I absolutely loved Juicy Tubes. Now, though, I hate them. They're sticky, and they don't keep my lips in good condition. This one smelled great when I got it (about two years ago), as it was 'Garden Tomato' flavoured. I'd say I have about ten or twelve Juicy Tubes in total, and they cost about €15 each, and I find that with each one, after a couple of uses they start smelling really strange. I basically regret getting every one I own!

I am in no way trashing these products, I am simply saying that they did not work for me.

PRODUCT REVIEW: Maybelline Liner Express

When it comes to eyeliners, believe me, I've tried everything under the sun. In the past two years or so, I've decided that for eyeliner or mascara, it's best to stick to the high street, namely, Maybelline, because since my very first mascara, which was Great Lash, they have rarely let me down.

Because I like to have winged liner, but I'm not that great at applying the liquid stuff with that fiddly little brush, I usually favour liners with a felt-tip brush. I first picked up this eyeliner about two years ago in Boots when it looked like this:

It lasted me ages, and though I did buy a couple of different liners (including the Maybelline gel liner, with which I was actually not impressed at all!) I always went back to this.

The other day when I went to buy a replacement, I found that they had changed the packaging slightly, but the product is exactly the same inside.

For about €7, you really can't go wrong with this. And if you get to Boots quickly, it's 3-for-2 on all Maybelline products at the moment!

Hey guys,

I hope you aren't disappointed that many of my recent posts haven't really been style-based. However, just last Friday I headed to the unveiling of Trinity's very first Christmas tree with my friend Harriet, and we were anxious to see what everyone was wearing, so we did a street-style post.

This was originally intended for our student newspaper, the University Times, but I thought I'd just stick it up here as well, for everyone else to see.

As most of you probably know by now, this year, Trinity College put up its very first Christmas tree in Front Square, courtesy of a generous donor. It’s strange, really, that no one had done this over the last five-hundred years or so, but that’s beside the point, we have it now, and as the Provost’s email received by the entire student body read let’s “begin a new Trinity tradition.”

We attended the Christmas tree lights ceremony in Front Square so that we could see the giant tree and listen to some of the delightful caroling on offer, of course, but also so that we could see what the stylish students of Trinity were wearing. It’s been extremely cold in Dublin over the past few days, and we were certainly not surprised to see that Trinity students were battling the freezing temperatures in style.

Marion

The first girl we came across in Front Square was the lovely Marion, all the way from France. Marion is an Erasmus student in Trinity, studying English Studies, in third year. She caught our eye with her amazing fur coat and cute patent handbag and pearls, and there were no surprises when she told us that her favourite places to shop were vintage stores.

Kate

The next stylish lady we encountered was Kate, and we interrupted her chat to ask if we could take a quick photograph. A fourth year politics and philosophy student, who likes to shop at Shotsy. Kate’s delightful fur hat complimented her glasses perfectly.

Toby

Finally, we met Toby, a religion and theology student in his final year at Trinity. When we asked Toby where his favourite place to shop was, he said simply “I don’t really buy clothes, I inherit clothes”. We love it.

SUBLIME STYLE; Coco Maja Hastrup Karshøj

Many of the outfits I wear, are inspired by people I've seen; on the streets, at college, in magazines, and quite often in bands. Some of you might remember my Beach House or El Perro Del Mar posts, well, I've found a new female-singer-slash-style-inspiration who many of you may not have heard of before.

Her name?

Coco Maja Hastrup Karshøj, of Danish duo Quadron.

Though I absolutely loved their music when I watched the video to 'Slippin'', the first thing I was struck by was Coco's face; it was so interesting.

Then, following a quick Google search, I realised I was totally in awe of her style. She works her curves so well, and looked fabulous in every single photo [plus, she looks great blonde, as well as brunette].

S'MORES CUPCAKES; A Recipe

There's nothing better than a steaming mug of tea and a freshly baked cupcake on a cold winter's night. I absolutely love baking, so this time, when I decided to bake cupcakes, I thought "why not be a little bit more adventurous?" On trawling the internet, this is what I came up with;

S'mores cupcakes

For those of you who don't know, a s'more is an American campfire favourite, comprised of toasted marshmallow and chocolate sandwiched between two graham crackers. Delicious.

These cupcakes really aren't that difficult, despite what you might think, and the result is definitely rewarding!

RECIPE
Makes 12

Equipment Needed;

Large mixing bowl [or more than one if you don't want to wash-up in between]

Mixing spoons or an electric mixer

Muffin tin

Paper or foil cupcake cases

Butter knife

Graham Cracker Base;

Digestive biscuits; 125g

finely crushed [we don't seem to have graham crackers in this country]

Caster sugar; 25g

Butter; 60g

Chocolate Cupcakes;

Plain flour; 100g

Cocoa powder; 20g

Caster sugar; 140g

Baking powder; 1tsp

Salt; pinch of

Butter; 40g, at room temperature

Milk; 120ml

Egg; 1

Vanilla essence; 1/4tsp

Topping & Decoration;

Betty Crocker; pot of chocolate fudge frosting

Marshmallow Fluff; jar [I got mine from Fallon & Byrne.]

Mini marshmallows

Small chocolate pieces

Digestive biscuit; 1

Step 1

The 'Graham Cracker' Element

Before you begin baking, turn your oven on to 180C, and line a muffin tin with paper cases.

Place all your digestive biscuits in a large mixing bowl, and crush them down to a rough, sand-like consistency [I just used clean hands, but you could use a food processor]. When this is done, mix the sugar through the biscuits. Finally, place the butter in a microwaveable mug and place in the microwave for 15 seconds [on 800W]. Pour the melted butter over your biscuit mixture and stir until incorporated.

Next you want to place roughly a heaped dessert-spoonful of the mixture into each paper case. Using your fingers, press the mixture into the cases until it lines the bottom and about half way up the sides of each. Place in the oven for about ten minutes. Then, remove the tray and leave to cool entirely.

Step 2

The Cupcake Element

Begin by blending your flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt in a large mixing bowl. In another, smaller bowl, blend your butter, sugar and vanilla until you get a light, creamy consistency. Next, gradually add the eggs and milk to the mixture. When all the wet ingredients are well mixed, add this mixture slowly to the dry mixture, and fold together until completely combined. When your batter is ready, drop a heaped dessert-spoonful of the chocolate cupcake mixture on top of each biscuit base, still in the muffin tin. Make sure not to put in too much cupcake mixture, as you want them looking as neat as possible- I just ensured that my biscuit base had been covered. Place the tray back into the oven for 18-20 minutes, or until the top of each cupcake springs back lightly on touching it. Leave to cool for about ten minutes, then remove from the tin and place on a wire rack to continue cooling.

Step 3

Decoration

When your cupcakes have cooled completely, it's time to decorate them. Obviously you can decorate them however you like, I'm just going to show you how I did it.

Before I decorate my cupcakes, I like to remove the paper case. I think it makes them look better, and also people can properly see the graham cracker base before they eat it. On the top of each cupcake, place about 3/4 teaspoon of chocolate frosting and the same amount of marshmallow fluff, side by side. Using the top of a butter knife, make swirling motions until the two have blended well, but you can still see distinctive white and brown swirls [ie. they haven't become a light brown mush]. Next, crumble a little bit of digestive biscuit over the icing, and stick a mini marshmallow on one side, and a little piece of chocolate on the other side [I used a piece of a mini swiss mountain bar from Marks & Spencer].

PATRICK WOLF; Trinity Q Soc.

Today, I went to see Patrick Wolf speaking in Ui Chadain theatre in college. Patrick was being given an award for outstanding contribution to the arts, by Q Soc; Trinity's LGBT society.

As I'd seen Wolf performing in Sugar Club a few months back, it was nice to see him in person again, and I was struck by how completely normal and humble he is, despite his immense talent- releasing his fifth album at the tender age of 28.

Today's Q&A session was Wolf's only media appearance while in Dublin [he had a gig in the Academy tonight], and he seemed completely open and honest when it came to answering our questions.

Though this isn't really a fashion post, I am always intrigued by Patrick's fashion sense. Today's outfit was comprised of a red blazer and waistcoat set, paired with a floral shirt, black skinny jeans and rain-savvy black boots.

Ahh, what a guy.

COATS, COATS, COATS

As the winters in Ireland are so bitterly cold, by the time each Autumn term comes around, it's time for me to search for a new coat. This year, I've basically been thinking about my new coat all summer. As most of you probably know by now, I much prefer winter clothing to summer clothing. I adore big, wooly jumpers over jeans, chunky tights and cardigans, boots, and of course, coats.

This winter, I originally planned to get a black felt coat, maybe one from Topshop. Eventually, however, I scrapped this idea, and decided on a black, quilted Barbour jacked instead. Before anyone jumps in to warn me that a quilted jacket isn't the warmest option, rest assured that I've thought this over. Last year, I sometimes found myself to be too warm, as I always wear a thick layer under my jacket.

I decided on the classic quilted coat from the selection of women's coats on the official Barbour website, and had my coat in a matter of days. I love ordering clothes online because they always come all new and packaged, and un-tried-on.
[I promise to put up a picture of me actually wearing the coat tomorrow! The light isn't right at the moment.]

Barbour jackets seem to be a popular as ever this year, with the likes of Alexa Chung popularising the wax variety.

Women's Barbour jackets are available from a number of online retailers, as well as in Clery's and Brown Thomas. To be honest, I didn't bother trying on my coat before I bought it, but I found it to be true to size. I love my new coat because it goes with everything! Peter even got a men's Barbour which looks great and also matches all his clothes.

However, I do find that my new jacket isn't suitable for all occasions, and is far better suited to casual outfits. It is perfect for college, but I couldn't really wear it to attend a more formal event. For this reason (and the fact that money burns a hole in my pocket) I have decided to invest in a more formal winter coat also. I found the perfect one in Topshop and can't wait to debut it.

My Hair = GONE.

SO, I took the plunge and cut my hair off.

Any of you that have seen me around already know this, but for those of you who haven't, I cut it about three weeks ago.

It's been a really big change for me, but I'm happy with it. I cut it with the aim of growing it back long, so now I am making extra sure I take great care of it so it doesn't end up the way it was before I cut it.

Having short hair feels healthier, but I would argue that it is just as time consuming to maintain as long hair was.

Electric Picnic & My Hair Dilemma.

So, as part of Trinity Orchestra (plays Daft Punk), I'm lucky enough to be playing on the main stage at Electric Picnic at 12:30pm this coming Saturday. To anyone who will be attending the festival, it would be great to see you there!

The second thing I planned to write about in this post is my ongoing dilemma about my hair.

My hair, at this moment, is probably the longest I've ever had it. Though I do enjoy having longer hair, it is in terrible condition.

This leads me to believe that there's no point in having my length of hair if all it does is crack/look dry.

This is why I've half decided to cut it off. Nothing too drastic, but something like this;

This way my hair will grow more healthily, as I haven't had a good haircut for ages.

I love the look of this length (might get the colour too), I just hope and pray that it will suit me.

ESPAGNE; An Escape.

As every one of my readers undoubtedly knows, I pretty much embody the term "erratic blogger";

I tend go for days and days without any activity, only to pack two or three posts into a single day.

Oh well.

This past week, I spent in Spain, soaking up some sun with "the boy"

(popular blogger term referring to boyfriend? See Urban Dictionary; An affectionate term for your boyfriend. Used in the 'Belle De Jour' book, prior to implementation in real life.)

Anyway,

To be quite honest, I haven't been on a huge amount of European holidays in my life.

I have been to France, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Switzerland, Germany and obviously the UK.

But most of my family holidays used to consist of American holidays, as I used to live there until I was nine. But seeing as his family have an apartment there, we decided to go over for a week to escape gloomy Ireland, and idle away our days chilling out by the pool or on the beach.

On the last day, which was yesterday, we went to Barcelona- a city I had wanted to go to for a long time.

Expect a few more posts from me now that I'm back in Ireland for the foreseeable future. I'm also going to try and connect my Ebay and my blog more, as I have a good few more things that I'm going to be selling in the coming fortnight, including All Saints, Miss Selfridge, Topshop and more.

MY FAVOURITE YOUTUBERS; The Best Of A Bad Bunch

As most of you are probably painfully aware, YouTube is absolutely packed to the brim with crap.

Self-proclaimed "gurus" pumping out sponsored videos, blurry makeup tutorials and pointless hauls.

However, amongst the rubble lie a few absolute gems.

CLOTHES ENCOUNTERS

Sarah and Jenn, the girls of Clothes Encounters, are probably amongst my top three favourite YouTubers. WORKING CLASS FOODIES

I love cooking shows so much, I don't even know why. When I'm using TV as a method relaxation, I always find myself flicking to the food channels to try and find some Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall or something along those lines. However, seeing as I don't actually have a TV in my apartment yet, I end up watching cookery shows on YouTube instead. One of my favourite YouTube food channels is Working Class Foodies, because most of the things they cook are actually quite attainable, and they are always interesting to watch.

Obviously, music on YouTube is a little bit different, because there isn't really one channel I revert back to again and again. Some of my favourite videos to watch on YouTube, however, are interviews with Morrissey and VivaHate33 is a channel dedicated to this. As most of you probably already know, I am a huge fan, and I find Morrissey absolutely fascinating. I love his old interviews, so here's just one as a sample.

I've been looking forward to this week for quite a while, for a few reasons.

Reason 1;

This Friday, I'm going to see Morrissey at Vicar St.

For those of you who don't already know, I'm a huge fan, and I cannot wait.

Reason 2;

This Saturday, I'm flying to London to spend some time with my housemate, Sophie.

Then Peter's flying over, and we'll be staying in Chelsea until Wednesday.

Reason 3;

Today, I quit my job which means that next week I'll be able to go home for a while. Office was a nice place to work, and the other staff were great, but at the same time, I'm glad that I'll get to spend some time with my family before college starts up again.

Could you get any more family oriented? ;D

This week will hopefully be the best of my summer so far. I haven't been doing a lot, but with an additional trip to Spain scheduled for August, things are looking up.

As you all know, I'd been looking to dip-dye my hair for some time before I finally did it last month.

(It's not as dark as I would like, but that's another story..)

Before I did my hair, I scoured the internet for pictures to pinpoint exactly what I wanted.

Because they were mentioned in so many magazines, and had loyal celebrity clients such as Pixie Geldof, Sienna Miller and Alice Dellal, my first stop was Bleach London's Tumblr site.

Ever since, I've been visiting the site non-stop looking at pictures of their work, and their quirky inspiration pictures.

It is amazing, and well worth checking out here.

Originally located in Dalston, Bleach now has another salon in Topshop, Oxford St. With colours like "Cheeky Vimto", "Berocca Rinse" and "De Ja Blue" on offer, Bleach (which was named after the Nirvana album), certainly boasts originality above all else.
With colour from just £50, out-of-this-world results and a trip to London already booked for next month, I could definitely be tempted..

Call me boring, but this one on the left is definitely my favourite.

My Very First EBAY Venture.

So, I've been meaning to get going on an Ebay account for quite some time now.

I set it up back in May, but then procrastinated (typical me) over all that verification malarky you have to go through to get it working until tonight, when I found I could no longer bear staring at the bag of discarded clothes in the corner of my room.

All the stuff I'm selling is in perfect condition (most of it is new), and I'm selling everything at very reasonable prices, so it would be great if you guys could check it out!

VINTAGE Footwear.

The main reason I'm writing this post is to gain insight into my readers' opinions on vintage footwear.

To be honest, I've always avoided second-hand footwear like the plague.
The thought of sharing a shoe with someone who could have sweat into it, not worn socks, or even worse, had some sort of foot infection, has always freaked me out.
And the fact that I don't particularly care for feet hasn't helped me very much either.

HOWEVER, this view was somewhat altered when I was in Urban Outfitters on Wednesday, and spied what were possibly the most perfect boots I have ever seen.
I've been on the hunt for some great black leather boots for quite some time now, and have finally come to accept that what I'm looking for will probably only be available in vintage.
Black, woven leather, lace-up boots with a little heel, they were exactly what I'd been searching for. And what's more, they fit me!

After much humming and hawing, I left the store without the boots.
Why?
Because I simply could not overcome my fear. When the boots were on my feet, I could feel the imprint of the previous owner and found myself almost shuddering at the thought.

Two days later, however, after trawling the internet and finding nothing worth comparing them to, I find myself wondering if I shouldn't just go back and buy the originals.
At €50, the price wasn't outrageous, and they did look great with my jeans..

TO BUY OR NOT TO BUY?; that is the question.

FARIS BADWAN; A Male Style Post.

Last weekend, I was lucky enough to get to go to Wireless Festival in Hyde Park, where I saw bands such as Foals, Metronomy, Pulp and Yuck. Though all the bands I saw were amazing (minus the Pretty Reckless, which I won't get into now), the one band who really stood out to me in a fashion sense, and who have done for the past few years, were The Horrors.
(Faris came on stage with a cup of tea rather than alcohol. Who else could pull this off?)

I've been a fan of The Horrors for quite some time now, and it was great to finally get to see them live. While most of the other bands appeared on stage in a rocker-esque shirt or jeans, frontman Faris Badwan and his bandmates really took it to the next level, as always.

For this post, I'm going to focus on the constant sense of style possessed by Mr. Faris Badwan, formerly known as Faris Rotter, and the main characteristics of his look.

#1; Insanely Skinny Jeans.

I know that a lot of girls don't like a guy in drainpipes, but I have to admit that I am quite the opposite of this, as I love a guy in skin tight jeans. Faris doesn't leave much to the imagination with his jeans, which he completely pulls off, as his legs are so long and skinny (bearing in mind, Faris is about 6'5")

#2; Winklepickers.

There's nothing like a smart, pointed men's dress shoe, and Faris Badwan knows this better than anybody. The combination of his jeans and footwear is a perfect one, and Faris seems to don this look at every occasion.

#3; Black, Black, Black.

I think it's fair to say that Faris rarely ventures outside of his signature black monotone unless it's to add in a little bit of grey, though I do remember him having a great red leather jacket at one stage. Personally, black is probably my favourite colour to wear, and I sometimes have to stop myself buying more. I think black is a really easy colour to pull off, and it's also very flattering.

#4; Big Hair.

When I saw Faris in person, it seemed to me that he had quite a small face. In reality though, I think it's just that he has quite big hair which seems to dwarf his face. Faris' hair hasn't changed much since The Horrors began, perhaps because it's what suits him best.

Faris as an Inspiration;

Ever since I saw Faris, all I've wanted to wear is black. I've wanted to drop five stone and sprout a pair of legs which resemble beanpoles, and I've wanted to backcomb the hell out of my hair.
I think the reason that I am inspired by Faris is because he is so different from many of the other frontmen of the bands I listen to on a daily basis. Faris' look embodies the very essence of The Horrors' music.

DIY Ombré Hair.

I know, I know, this is like the oldest blog post in the book.

But just last weekend, I finally got around to ombré-ing (?) my hair, and though the result is not quite as light as I originally wanted, I am really happy with how it came out.

(I may dye over it again soon, but then again I don't want to end up bald..)

Anyway,

I used some sort of Garnier Nutrisse blonde dye (cannot remember which shade, but it was one of the lighter blondes!)

To achieve this colour, I had to dye over the hair four times, as my hair is naturally quite a dark brown.)

So, here goes;

I know that these pictures really aren't that great, but I'm sure you'll all get to see it properly next time I do an outfit post (which will be this weekend).

It really was the easiest thing to do; I have absolutely no experience with hair dye.

Literally all I did was mix up the dye and apply it to the ends of my hair. I used the gloves to blend the dye up a little bit further in an attempt to achieve the fading effect.

SUMMER in Dublin; A General Catch-Up.

Let me just begin this post by apologising for my lengthy and unexplained absence (if anyone actually noticed, that is). I fell out of blogging while I was studying for my exams, and haven't really thought of anything to write until now.

However, it seems that I'm finally back, and seeing as my boyfriend has abandoned me until Thursday, I find myself alone in the big city with only three hours of work in the interim to keep myself occupied (ie. hopefully I can get back to regular posting).

As someone who really has nothing concrete planned for the entire summer (give or take a trip to London or two, a ticket to Wireless festival in Hyde Park, a performer's pass to Electric Picnic and a potential week in Spain) I'm really finding it difficult to get into that summery mood. Not to sound pompous, but I've never endured a summer this boring, and having to drag myself into work with echoes of the countless Facebook statuses from people proclaiming they're jetting off for entire the summer in my head is tough, to say the least.
However, I have to remember that it's completely my own fault for not planning anything fun and deciding to get a job, and now I've got to make the most of it.

Anyway,

Here are a few of the things my summer has revolved around so far;

Forbidden Fruit
As a member of Trinity orchestra, I was lucky enough to be able to be a part of the opening act of the second day of Forbidden Fruit, a festival which just began this year in Kilmainham.
After we played, we got to stay for the rest of the day and watch the other acts which included Caribou, Jamie XX, Scroobius Pip & Dan Le Sac and Aphex Twin.

My New Apartment

I've just moved into a beautiful new apartment in a very central location, and I'm absolutely delighted with it. I'm sharing it with one of my best friends from college, Sophie, which I'm also really looking forward to. I won't post any pictures of the actual apartment for fear of internet predators and all that jazz, but it is a newly refurbished Georgian house with amazingly high ceilings, and a stunning colour scheme of powder blue, brown and cream.

On Wednesday night, I went to the Olympia to see Sufjan Stevens. I might as well just begin by saying that it was the best gig I've ever been to, and was worth battling through the hundreds of Gardaí that were present for the Queen's visit.
Honestly, I can't even begin to describe the performance. It really was breathtaking, and he played for two and a half hours. I really can't recommend listening to him enough.

Retro Makeup; A Marilyn Monroe Inspired TUTORIAL.

As I've mentioned numerous times before, Marilyn Monroe is an icon of mine. I love her effortless style, and the fact that without being a size 0, she was so beautiful. To me, she is an inspiration- a rags to riches story, before her tragic death at such a young age.

Garnier Pure A daily treatment moisturiser

I've loved this for about two years, and I use it under my foundation because it's not greasy, and it gets rid of any unsightly dry spots.

Foundation, powder and eye-primer done.

Chanel Pro Lumiere Foundation [in shade no. 10]

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural Powder [in light/medium]

Front Cover shadow base [no idea what this is, I just can't find my Urban Decay eye potion]

I also fill in my eyebrows with MAC eyebrow pencil in 'Stud' [I haven't done it yet here]

Ok, time to start on the eyes..

1. I've already put a shadow base on my eyelids, so I begun by dusting over my eyelid with 'Mushroom', by Urban Decay.

My absolute favourite palette I own is the limited edition Urban Decay Disney Alice in Wonderland 'Book of Shadows', which was a gift from my dad.

The palette includes twelve Urban Decay eyeshadows (renamed), two 24/7 eye pencils ('Flipside' and 'Zero'), and one travel size eyeshadow primer potion.

2. Next I used Benefit's "Eye Bright" pencil to highlight underneath my eyebrows and Ulta's eyeshadow in "Iceland" to highlight the corner of my eyes.

3. I've tried and tested many a liquid eyeliner, and my absolute favourite of them all is Maybelline's "Liner Express"- it provides that heavy black line, which being absolutely fool-proof to use.

Now that your eyes are pretty much done, so just add a thick coat of mascara to finish them off. I use Maybelline New York's 'The Colossal Volum' Express' mascara, which is my favourite.

4. In every picture of Marilyn I see, I notice that her eyebrows are quite pointed. While I don't want to go around with triangular eyebrows, I do think we can adapt the pointed eyebrows, but with a more modern feel. As I have mentioned, I use MAC's eyebrow pencil in "Stud" to fill in my eyebrows.

5. Obviously, Marilyn Monroe's trademark red lips really encapsulate her famous makeup look.

Here I am using MAC's "Russian Red" which is my favourite red lipstick. My lips can get quite dry, so underneath my lipstick I usually use a thin coat of MAC's lip conditioner (the clear one).

A great lipstick trick I use, is to put a thin line of white eyeliner around my lips and smudge it in after I apply my lipstick. It really makes your lips stand out, with defined borders [here I used a white Rimmel kohl pencil].

SUMMER 2011; A Brief Overview.

With my exams having just started yesterday, I can assure you that I am already well and truly exhausted. Like many bloggers, my time is currently limited and I'm finding it difficult to squeeze in posts. This overload of academia (ugh) leaves me fantasising about the long summer days to come, and the hours I can fill doing pretty much whatever I please.
Here are a few of my ideas:

Working at Office;

I just found out on Wednesday that I got a job at Office on Grafton St., which of course I am very pleased about. Obviously it means I won't get to see my family as much as I would have liked, but my job is only part-time which means that I'll hopefully still have time to pop down to Cork and visit them. My first shift is this Sunday from 12-3.

Spain with Peter;
This year I really wanted a relaxing holiday, and Spain sounds absolutely perfect. I'll hopefully be staying in the Costa Brava area which is quite close to Barcelona.

Moving into my first apartment;

Though I'm still hunting for the perfect apartment or house with two of my friends, I'm really excited at the prospect of moving in in the next month or two. I can't believe I'm actually old enough to be looking at properties!

Taking driving lessons;
I'm a pretty good driver, but I feel that I should take some lessons before I attempt the big test. It would be great if I could pass my test this summer before all these disgusting new rules start applying to me (my provisional license runs out in August.)

My little car

Going to a lot of gigs;

If you're a regular reader, you know by now how much I love live music. This summer, I hope to go to a good few concerts. This will begin with Sufjan Stevens (I love him) on May 18th- the tickets were my year anniversary present from Peter, and I cannot wait.

I'll also be playing in Forbidden Fruit festival on the Sunday with Trinity Orchestra which I'm really excited about.

Reading lots of books;

I'm usually a huge bookworm, but this year I really haven't gotten the chance to be. First on my list? Finish Brighton Rock. I'll continue from there, I have volumes of unread books to enjoy.

Clearing out my wardrobe;
I have so many things in my wardrobe which I never wear. Most of it is quite good quality however, so I'll be donating it to charity.

Spending time with my friends;

Many of my close friends live in Cork, and I don't get to see them as much as I would like. Hopefully this summer I can have people to stay all the time, as I will have a spare room in my apartment. I'm really looking forward to catching up and having a few good nights out.

I'm really looking forward to summer, even if it is comprised of a lot of relaxing, with a couple of nice things here and there. It will be a refreshing break after eight months of college.
Roll on May 16th!

When I was about fourteen, I went through a phase of absolutely loving Home and Away. As with many of you perhaps, this is where I first came across Isabel Lucas, as she played the role of Tasha Andrews in the Australian soap.

I have to admit, I would never have picked Lucas out as being a style icon. Sure she was pretty, tanned and skinny, but fashionable? Not particularly. CRIME #1; Leggings as pants

I absolutely hate it when I see someone wearing leggings as pants. Unless they are of the jegging/tregging variety, leggings should not be worn as an alternative to jeans. They are unflattering at the best of times, and are only acceptable when worn with a top which covers the rear-end area.

To sum up my point; leggings fail to qualify as trousers.

CRIME #2; Looking 'Jersey Shore'

Everybody loves the occasional episode of Jersey Shore; at least in secret they do. But though you may love watching Snooki's antics on the screen, does not mean you should try and emulate her style.

Over-tanning, too much cleavage, and tight man-tanks are definite no-nos when it comes to styling yourself.

CRIME #3; Over-Plucked Eyebrows

Most young girls will one day find themselves realizing that something has to be done about the two bushes growing above their eyes. They will borrow their mother's tweezers and attack their eyebrows in a long session of bedroom plucking. Big mistake.

Over-plucked eyebrows are a big no-no in the fashion world nowadays. Let them grow back, before it's too late.

CRIME #4; Excess Makeup

I love makeup, I really do. But sometimes I see the most heinous crimes being committed against the cosmetics world. Orange tidemarks, panda eyes, clumpy mascara; we've seen it all. Makeup is amazing, and most certainly complimentary when used in the right quantity.

CRIME #5; Ill-Fitting Clothing

It's always tempting to buy something if it's dirt cheap, or if you love it but they only have it in one size too small. But it's not worth it. By wearing ill-fitting clothes, you're really not doing yourself any favours. Make sure your jeans are long enough, and that nothing is so tight that you're struggling to breathe.

SUMMERTIME, Soak Up The Sunshine With You.

Trying to study with this beautiful weather is beyond depressing.

Because my boyfriend Peter is in the same boat, and living in the same accommodation as me, we've worked out a nice routine;

study for two hours, take a two hour lunch break in which we walk to Rathgar and get sandwiches at Bijoux deli, which we then eat outside, study for another two hours, then take an ice-cream break, study for an while longer before we have dinner, and then do about an hour after we've eaten.

A nice schedule revolving around food and sun; not so bad, though I'm sure he's making much more use of the actual study time than I am.

This week, I'm finding it impossible to tear my mind away from summer to focus on books. Who else is finding it difficult to care about college exams when they could be planning their holiday?

Here are some nice summery things to remind us all of the sun-drenched world which lies at the end of the dark tunnel of academia (lol)

Yes indeed, I'm jumping on the bandwagon because I love reading these posts on other people's blogs so much.

I realise this isn't the most attractive photo of all time, however, by the time I realised this, I was far too lazy to lay everything out again to take another photo.

Umbrella; I carry this everywhere, obviously- it is Ireland after all.

Comb; I usually bring a comb with me, because I often wear my hair a little bit messed up.

French dictionary; I study French in college.

Digital camera; I carry my camera in case I want to do an outfit post or something.

Memory stick

iPod; I listen to music at every available moment, so I always carry this.

Tissues

A4 pad; I can't use spiral notebooks because I'm left-handed and it's super awkward.

Planner; I would be absolutely lost without my planner, it keeps track of my life!

Phone

Neurofen

Ray Bans; for the increasingly frequent sunny day

Pens/highlighter; I love Staedtler.

Extra Ice gum

M&S lemon hand sanitizer

MAC lip conditioner; absolute must have for me!

Hair elastic

Wallet; this holds my student card, room key, credit cards, ID, money etc. etc.
